🌍 Our Journey: Events & Impact
Welcome to our Events Blog — a living diary of the places we’ve roamed, the challenges we’ve faced, and the difference we’ve made together.
Here, you’ll discover stories from our fundraisers, community walks, talk groups, challenge days, awareness campaigns, and the exciting events we have planned. We share where we’ve been, what inspired us, and the amazing people who came together — not just to help themselves grow stronger, but to selflessly support others along the way.
You’ll also see the real impact of our journey: the funds we’ve raised, the local and national mental health initiatives we’ve supported, and the partners and volunteers who made it all possible.
Every event is more than a date on the calendar — it’s a step forward in our mission to break stigmas, build genuine connections, and show that when we rise and roam together, we create lasting change.
Come see where we’ve been — and get inspired to join us on our next adventure! 🌱✨

2nd May 2026
✨ Alvaro and Josh takes on the Portland Pig.
✏️ So this wasn’t actuualy an event arranged or ran by us, but one Alvaro De La Camara and his friend josh were taking on. Having to run a 4 mile loop on the hour, every hour until only one person remains.
📍 Where & When:
✏️2nd May 2026, Portland Pig Ultra
👥 Who Was Involved:
✏️ Alvaro De La Camara and Josh.
💡 What We Did:
✏️ With the Portland Pig event, you have to run a 4 mile loop, on the hour, every hour, until only one person remains. Josh ended up beating his previous record, and Alvaro due to becoming ill ended up having to stop on lap 21, but think that’s 21 hours of running, barely having enough time between laps to eat, minutes of sleep at best, what an incredible feat!
💰 Impact & Funds Raised:
✏️The guys really wanted to support us at Rise & Roam, in return for helping and supporting them! We originally donated a small amount of money to help them in participating, in return the asked to have a GoFundMe set up for them both and ended up raising an amazing £599.00 for us to carry on doing what we are doing, creating a space for lads to come along!
❤️ Why It Matters:
✏️ unfortunately there is a stigma around Men’s Mental Health, and removing this is important! Creating this safe space where guys can talk openly and honestly with only other like minded guys, who have or are experiencing similar struggles in their own lives. Many guys since we have started these have said these meet ups have really helped with there journeys they are going through.

17th December 2025
✨ Rise & Roam - Christmas Night Out!
✏️ This was our first Christmas as Rise & Roam, as the Lads only space we had created. We knew for some Christmas time may be hard, for some maybe no Christmas doo to attend at all, so we decided to have our own.
📍 Where & When:
✏️17th December 2025, Super Bowl UK and Mulligans.
👥 Who Was Involved:
✏️ Myself Garry Caswell and fellow CIC Directors Joel Pickford & Chris Dack, Newest leader Bailey Painter, Chris Orfford, EJ, Tom, Leighton, Josh, Danny Painter, Dan, Tiago, Brandon, Steve, Jamie.
💡 What We Did:
✏️ we firstly met up at Super Bowl UK in the Mall Norwich. We hired out 3 lanes for us all to enjoy 2 games of bowling each which also included a free drink each. After this we then headed across the city to Mulligans down Riverside as we hired 3 pool tables for an hour and a half for everyone to take turns and play one another, was an incredible evening to see everyone out having such a great laugh and time together!
💰 Impact & Funds Raised:
✏️this was luckily funded by the money raised and left over from previous challenges and fund raisers like the 3 peaks etc. some of the guys may not of had this opportunity to enjoy themselves around such an important time of year, it was such a great night!

24th October 2025
✨ Rise & Roam - National 3 Peaks Challenge.
✏️ This was Challenge No.3, our biggest challenge yet! The National 3 Peaks Challenge, the hard one, mentally, physically and logistically.
📍 Where & When:
✏️24th October 2025, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowden.
👥 Who Was Involved:
✏️ Myself Garry Caswell and fellow CIC Directors Joel Pickford & Chris Dack, Newest leader Bailey Painter, Chris Orfford, Shaun Holman, EJ Eimantas, Tom Daniels, Alfie West, Robbie, Leighton Davies.
💡 What We Did:
✏️ we firstly drove all the way from Norwich to Scotland, and camped up at a place called Boreland, next to Loch Tay. Arriving at night we had no idea of our surroundings, the views we would be waking up too, Absolutely INCREDIBLE! We had a love BBQ the night before and spent a good few hours just chatting and enjoying one-another’s company. The following morning we ended up surprising the lads into the opputunity to take a nice, natural cold dip in Loch Tay itself, some were very apprehensive, but felt alive and rejuvenated afterwards, and glad they tried it out. Thats when we then headed over to Ben Nevis ready to start and to take on the nation 3 peaks challenge around 3pm.. only to get a blow out and end up 2 hours behind schedule and starting the hike around 5pm!
💰 Impact & Funds Raised:
✏️this had the most amount of people involved, and this also had, by far the most expense in organising the challenge itself. Each guy involved had their own GoFundMe setup for themselves to raise money from their friends and family, the total amount raised from everyone was around £2705.00. This amount of money was incredible! This covered all the expenses involved but it helps create these opportunities for these lads that may has always just been an idea, and also plenty left over to help us keep our safe space, the Walk and Talks going.

25th September 2025
✨ Rise & Roam - Wellbeing Mental Health Course.
✏️ The guys at Wellbeing got in touch to help us with what we are pink. Wanting to give us courses to help us understand more around mental health, and the best way to support and deal with different situations.
📍 Where & When:
✏️25th September 2025, Wellbeing, Norwich
👥 Who Was Involved:
✏️ Myself Garry Caswell and fellow CIC Directors Joel Pickford & Chris Dack.
💡 What We Did:
✏️ we done two different level of course, to help with our knowledge in understanding mental health. This isn’t to make us any professional in anyway, but to just help us understand what people may be going through and how to try assist them in where to go, who to talk to, and just supporting them prior to further help and support.
💰 Impact & Funds Raised:
✏️We never know who we may talk to, or what people may be going through. But to hopefully help us understand, hopefully make people a lot more comfortable sharing whatever it may be that someone is going through.

12th September 2025
✨ Rise & Roam - 257 Mile, BMX Bike Ride. Norwich - Somerset
✏️ This was our second Challenge as Rise & Roam, but our first one on bikes.
📍 Where & When:
✏️ 12th September 2025, Starting from Mandarin Cycles, Aylsham Road, Norwich, riding 257 miles to Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset.
👥 Who Was Involved:
✏️ Myself Garry Caswell and fellow CIC Director Chris Dack, new leader with Rise & Roam, Bailey Painter, and father and son duo, Ryan and Cameron Rudledge.
💡 What We Did:
✏️ We got inspired by a great guy, a guy who love to push himself with some ultra athlete events, long distances, and long days, we decided to try do something similar, but with a side of fun to it. We decided as Alvaro De La Camaro lives the otherside of the country we shall bike to his, to see how deep we can dig within ourselves, just like Alvaro has to do himself in his events. Unfortunately the morning of the second day, Ryan and Cameron had to pull out the rest of the event.
💰 Impact & Funds Raised:
✏️we managed as a group to raise another £900.00 via our GoFundMe from generous donations, this helped us carry on our weekly walk and talks and inspired us to do another challenge later on, with a much bigger group.

July 9th 2025
✨ Rise & Roam - Walk and Talk
✏️ This was our first Walk and Talk, we wanted to create our own men only safe space and this is when we started our first walk and talk.
📍 Where & When:
✏️ 6pm, Wednesday 9th July. We ended up finding a great location, The Lions Den, Riverside, Norwich..
👥 Who Was Involved:
✏️ Myself Garry Caswell and fellow CIC Directors Joel Pickford & Chris Dack with our first attendees.
💡 What We Did:
✏️ We decided after our walk to London that we wanted to try and create our own safe, non judgemental, men only space. A place where guys can get together and talk about what they are going through or have been through. Not just creating a place safe to talk, but safe to listen as not everyone is at that stage of their journey.
💰 Impact & Funds Raised:
✏️ With the money raised from the Norwich - London walk we are able to create a space, totally free to attend, no expense or anyone what-so-ever, all drinks (hot or chilled cold) funded by ourselves, even occasionally helping with travel to attend too!
❤️ Why It Matters:

June 12th 2025
✨ Rise & Roam Walk to London!
✏️ This was our first fundraising idea, to help spread awareness of who we are, and our goal at Rise & Roam.
📍 Where & When:
✏️ 12th June 2025, Leaving the Norwich Forum - London Eye.
👥 Who Was Involved:
✏️ Myself Garry Caswell and fellow CIC Directors Joel Pickford & Chris Dack with our friend Dave Tye. Most importantly our transport, goods and support driver, Sarah Mulhearn.
💡 What We Did:
✏️ We decided to push ourselves, putting ourselves into a position we knew would be hard, knowing we will have to dig deep, knowing it was probably going to be painful at times, and doing it anyway! To see how deep we can dig when times get tough, to try and see how resilient we really are when times get tough! But knowing with the right people around you, creating to right support network anything is achievable!
💰 Impact & Funds Raised:
✏️ For our walk we set up a GoFundMe online. We managed to raise a total £2,311.00 online, and a total of £223.60 in cash donations too! All this will go into helping create support groups and opportunities for people, to help rebuild peoples confidence moving forward.
❤️ Why It Matters:
✏️ We did this event for multiple reasons. Firstly to raise awareness of who we are, Rise & Roam. Secondly to openly speak out and make people aware of the unfortunate events of men struggling with their mental health. Doing this challenge showed people that we are wanting and willing to put ourselves into challenging events to help us grow within ourselves too!

🌱 Looking Ahead:
✏️ Whats Next? So now we have made a noise, and people know who we are, what we stand for, and what we want to do, our goal is to start our Rise & Roam - Walk and Talk groups. A GUYS only safe place, to come along, surround yourself with like minded people and create a place to support and help one another.
